Pre-service teachers from Utrecht University interact with Czech students of Dutch from Palacky University

36 pre-service teachers following the course Language Education at Utrecht University and first and second year students (39 participants) of Dutch from Palacky University, Czech Republic, participated during February and March 2009 in the NIFLAR project.

1 got familiar with NIFLAR pedagogical concerns (the development of communicative tasks to stimulate intercultural information exchange and authentic interaction at the adequate language proficiency level according to the CEFR making use of videocommunication tools),
2 developed interaction tasks,
3 – conducted interaction sessions with a peer student,
4 – analysed interaction sessions conducted by peers on the same tasks and
5 reflected upon the advantages and disadvantages of integrating video-web communication tools in teaching and learning processes of foreign languages.At the end all participants presented their experiences and evaluated the participation in the project.

Spanish

Pre-service teachers from the Spanish Universities of Valencia and Granada participated in interaction sessions with Dutch students of Spanish from Utrecht University.
12 pre-service teachers of Spanish from the University of Granada, 12 pre-service teachers from Valencia and 32 Dutch students of Spanish (at B1 proficiency level) from Utrecht University participated during the months of February and March 2009 in the NIFLAR project. They carried out in peers 5 interaction tasks with a clear focus on intercultural similarities and differences between cultures. At the end all participants presented their experiences and evaluated the participation in the project.
